Interactive Assemblies & Workshops The Suitcase Puppet Theatre Multimedia Virtual Visits Reaching Reluctant Readers

I am thrilled to be open for event bookings and school visits. In fact, meeting readers and inspiring them to write is my favourite part of being an author!
My suitcase puppet theatre and I have travelled to schools, libraries & festivals across the UK and Europe - as far as Berlin and Northern Italy! We have also beamed into hundreds of classrooms using the latest streaming software.

Let me bring my writing laboratory to you, so we can study the science of writing the perfect mystery story, aka Mysteriology. Or allow me to rewind the clock, all the way back to 1892, where one of my ancestors (also called Hana Tooke, curiously) discovered a secret formula called The Magic Three. A formula that never fails to get a story idea started!

All my events are interactive (including the puppet show) and designed to engage even the most reluctant readers and writers (which was me too, once!).
NEW EVENT!
CALLING ALL LIBRARIANS!
I am delighted to announce that my brand new reading-for-pleasure-themed event is arriving in early 2026 to celebrate the National Year of Reading:
Join bestselling children’s author (and former reluctant reader) Hana Tooke for an enchanting event where she introduces the curious and timeless science of Librariology.
We will rigorously (and whimsically) examine the following:

-
Readers as heroes on a daring quest
-
Books as portals to unseen worlds
-
Libraries as magical portal hubs
-
Portal Guardians (commonly known as librarians) as book-finding wizards
Through interactive story-finding experiments, Hana will demonstrate the core Librariology formula:

reader + right book = lifelong love of reading
Most magical of all, you’ll discover that a simple library card is one of the most powerful treasures you’ll ever own.

NB: This entirely tech-free one-hour session will include: a hero's journey to reading for pleasure, a tonne of audience participation, and a smidge of (very pretend) open-skull brain surgery for willing volunteers.

‘The children and staff have been raving about her all day! Our English planning will now change because Hana was so fabulous.’
